MGA’s own publication, Minnesota Golfer magazine, brought home a gold award Nov. 13 at the 18th Annual MMPA Excellence Awards. The Minnesota Magazine & Publications Association shindig, put on at the Nicollet Island Pavilion, was hosted by radio personalities Brian “BT” Turner and Lindsay Guentzel (K-TWIN radio). There was 608 entries and 87 judges who selected the award winning entries. BT and Lindsay zipped through the bronze and silver awards while handing out the golds (best in category) to the lucky chosen who were invited up on stage. Rat Rod, Exhibitor and Minnesota Medicine were among the multiple gold award winners. MN Golfer’s own Joe Oberle, managing editor, received a Gold Award for Overall Excellence on behalf of the magazine. The magazine also received two silver awards — for best feature, “Turning Pro and Back Again,” and best cover design, the 2014 Directory issue; and three bronze awards, for the same Directory, best typography (“Suited to a Tee“) and best editor’s letter (“What the new TV deal means“).
Delta Sky magazine was chosen as the Peoples’ Choice award and Experience Life, the Life Time Fitness magazine, was named magazine of the year.
